I again attended the DepEd Evacuation Drill and Occupational Safety seminar. I learned the following: 1) don't panic; 2) buddy buddy system; 3) brisk walking; and 4) look for safe place.
I was informed also that it is the right of the employees to have a safe and decent workplace.

Attended an Orientation on K to 12 Program of DepEd
I was tasked to attend the orientation on K to 12 program at DepEd Bulwagan ng Karunungan this afternoon. I just learned that the additional years (11-12) will be spent on mastering the basics. In other words, senior high school will focus more on the mastery of the subject.
There was an urgent need to push through with K to 12 since, I learned, that the Philippines is one of the only 3 countries in the world that has a 10-year basic education program. Whew.

Terrific UFC Fights in Canada
I just watched UFC game between Lyoto Machida and Randy Coutore, believe me, the game was done after only two rounds. A vicious karate kick right on the face of "Captain America" was terrificly done by Lyoto and boom! The game was over. Have watched other games and I commend all the players for giving their best shots. The fight between Aldo and Homnick was also super great. Two brave warriors. In the final match, George St. Pierre battled Jake Shields and won via a unanimous decision. GSP won, however, not convincingly. He suffered a wicked punch from Shields during the 2nd round.
I am so happy to see this line in one of the shirts, "Fortune favors the brave." I agree.

Eat Bulaga Galore!
I watched Eat Bulaga earlier and I saw Jose and Wally distributing tokens and cash to the people of Barangay Bomber in Sampaloc, Manila. I almost cried after I saw the husband of the winner who has a tuberculosis (TB). I've seen how miserable their lives were as they live in a small space of a worn-out building. As the Sugod Bahay Gang pursued their way to the building I couldn't believe how the building withstood the presence of so many people and the test of time.
Eat Bulaga has really helped unfortunate people and hopefully, it would continue sharing its blessing to middle and poor class alike.
Congratulations to your very successful show.

Anti-Tigdas and Anti-Measles Shots for my Kids!
I did not go to the office today due to my wife's visit to her school for unknown reason. I got lucky that representatives from DOH visited our place for "Anti-Tigdas and Anti-Measles campaign" for free. The kids needed the shots especially this summer wherein diseases are so rampant.

Too Hot in Here!
Whew! It's too hot in Manila. Yesterday, I was told that the Philippines has had the hottest day of the year. However, I feel that it is hotter today than yesterday (got to confirm this through a weather bureau). I am sweating profusely as I walk through the Bureau of the Secondary Education and the Bureau of Elementary Education.

Still Working on Textbooks and Supplementary Materials
After a long break, I (with selected IMCS staff) was again assigned to review textbooks (TXs) and supplementary materials (SMs) if there were inconsistencies and errors to be found before they are procured by the department. Our office also asked the help of the bureaus for the same task. On our part (IMCS) we were still able to see lots of errors and have these checked by my director for validation. Soon we will send these findings to the concerned publishers for correction.
P.S.
My name was not included in the list of Marshals at DepEd released yesterday, though I was the official representative to attend (GSD wasn't able to see that I was the one with complete attendance). Anyway, Kuya Manny and Kuya James can do the work with ease too.

Ranked # 2 in the Administrative Officer V Position at DepEd
I just learned from a friend that I got the no. 2 rank in the Administrative Officer V position at SDD - Department of Education Central Office. It was just frustrating that, twice, I was not able to get a vital position at DepEd. First, at the Internal Audit Service where I thought I was in a better position against the other candidates and second, at SDD. I met them all during the final panel interview as we laid down all our cards.

Read Great Men and Women of Asia - Children's Series
Just finished reading supplementary materials about Great Men and Women of Asia - Children's Series. Among those I read were the following:
1) The Man Who Believed in the Poor; 2) The Bridge Builder of Chiayi County; 3) Dancing in Cloud Gate; 4) Khan: A Teacher of Everything; 5) Of Rubber Shoes and the Saddest Baby; 7) Green Clothes for the Yellow Dragaon; and 8) Ang Salot, Ang Lumba-lumba, at Ang Hiwaga sa Laot. I learned so much from these materials.

Why, Oh Why?
At IMCS, the staff have been reviewing old books that were issued to pupils years ago. My Director instructed all of us to check if there were still errors, especially obsolete information, to be found before submitting them to higher officials. As I go deeper, with my review, I found out that there were still errors that need to be corrected. Hopefully, findings will be implemented before books are procured.

Additional Staff at IMCS
Gee, we have additional staff at the office. I like it because our backlogs have been taken care of by our SPES. SPES are students hired by the Department of Education to make their summer vacation a fruitful one. Not only that they would experience working in the government but they would also know office procedures as well.

No Internet Connection for the Whole Day at DepEd
Big hassle. The Department of Education suffered a minor setback on yesterday's communication due to the absence of internet connection. At IMCS, I was not able to print my output on my network printer and had to rely on my boss'es printer through USB.
