Amazing Wesley So!

Wesley So of the Philippines made his presence felt as he subdued equally talented Ding Liren of China during the first round (tie break)of the 2011 World Chess Cup held at Khanty Mansiysk, Russia. What impressed me most about this kid is his ability to stay focused even during time pressure. Like Manny Paqauiao, Wesley So, is carrying on his shoulder his country's pride after his compatriot Mark Paragua lost his match against Super Grand Master Michael Adams of England in a thrilling passion.

The match on the second round will be crucial for So as greater challenge awaits him. All eyes will be on him as he is paired against Sergey Karakjin of Russia the strong favourite and the top seed on this tournament.

I am wishing that he'll draw his two classical games and makes an impact during active and blitz games where he is known for.

Wesley, good luck and may you be greatly blessed on this tournament!

Tagaytay City Adventure!

Whew. I've been to Tagaytay City, Philippines for the whole week and had this brand new experience of being coached by an Australian, Ms. Susan Atkins. I had been introduced to varied techniques on how to deal with instructional materials. Am so glad also that the workshop I attended was participated by representatives from Regions VI, VII, VIII, XI and CAR from the Department of Education. I had an information overload and I was very lucky sessions were over before I got mental anguish. Central Office teams were participated by officials from IMCS, BSE, EDPITAF and of course, by the newly-hired LRMDS Project Manager and LRPDSs.

I will be staying for 1 week here at the Development Academy of the Philippines, Tagaytay City to attend a seminar-workshop on LRMDS. I found the venue to be nice and cozy. I hope that I will learn more from my stay here.

On Her Way to the Top!

I would like to extend my warmest greetings to my daughter Helena Beatrice Asi and her group for winning the District III Read-A-Thon Contest at A. Mabini Elementary School at the Division of City Schools, Manila. BTW, she represented P. Gomez Elementary School.

I Smurfed You!

Yahoo! I treated my wife and my kids to a movie delight at SM San Lazaro. I never had a chance to see a movie via 3D, but yesterday was a special one. I can hear the neverending giggling from Betty and Isaiah as they continued to watch the movie. Haaay...

Watched the Dead Poet Society the 2nd Time

I just finished watching the movie "Dead Poet Society" and I felt so good. The first time I watched it was during my post graduate education class at the Philippine Normal University. So beautiful!

Betty Kissed Me

I am so happy with my beautiful daughter as she kissed me after she (with her group mates) won a classroom contest. It reminded me of an old poem during my college days...

Betty kissed me when we met
Jumping from the chair she sat in
Time you thief who loved to get
Sweet into your list put that in
Say I'm weary, say I'm sad
Say that health and wealth had missed me
Say I'm growing old but add
Betty kissed me.

Too Much Rain, Too Much Pain

I was caught by a flash flood at Tayuman cor Malabon Sts. this morning. Just after I planned not to be late again in going to the office.

I had to cross mini-rivers before I reach the Tayuman LRT station. Luckily, I reached IMCS at about 9:30 a.m. and had to hastily work on my assigned tasks.

Authorized official from the personnel services announced that office work will be suspended at 1:00 p.m. Whoa!

Lucky Us!

I with my wife, visited Casino Filipino, Pavilion Branch yesterday to witness the raffle draw being held every Tuesday. We have been lucky on winning games through raffle draws before so we thought combining forces would be great for us. You know what? In my college days at University of the East I won the 1st prize during our Foundation Day - a brand new refrigerator. Then, in my working days at DepEd Manila I won several prizes like electric fan, cash, and other items. A year ago, I won an iPod at SM San Lazaro (see my previous post). I will not mention other goods that I got 'coz its not so expensive. Two months ago, at P. Gomez Elementary School Cooperative Meeting I won a television set.

You think I'm lucky? Wait until you heard the story of my wife's winnings!

She also had multitude of jackpot prizes. Like myself, she had had various items in hand. The biggest one, and it surpassed all that I got, was during the Isetann, Recto Branch raffle draw in the year 2006. Hear ye and keep your eyes open! She won the P1,000,000.00 prize offered during the draw (but now all her earnings were exhausted). There were more minor prize winnings that happened after that.

We thought yesterday's visit at the Casino Filipino will bring us more victories since 5 winners will be drawn, however, our names were not called. But we will not rest, next month, we will try our luck again.

Birthday Galore with My Family @ Pranjetto Hills

Sorry guys! I've been out of reach for the last two days. It just happened that I intentionally turned off my phones and Facebook account just to focus on my family. Know what? For the past several months I've been away and last Friday evening July 15, I surprised my wife and my kids by begging them to prepare their things for we will be going somewhere to celebrate my birthday.

I wish I made them happy.

Pictures will be posted soon guys!

Revisiting Gems Conference and Training Center

After so many years, I returned to Gems Conference and Training Center, Antipolo City through the Capability Building of DepEd Employees on Social Dialogue (SD)and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) sponsored by DepEd, and the National Employees Union (NEU) with the collaboration of Danish Trade Union Council for International Development Corporation. I am still in awe as to how fast this edifice transformed into an A-class structure. Allow me to share this picture (others to follow):
