Paper Clay Art

This weekend I spent my time doing my new found enjoyable activity. Though it was time consuming I felt the satisfaction after seeing the output. Why didn't I learn it long time ago?

Father's Day Celebration

I was a bit surprised or should I say deeply touched to receive a very appealing drawing from my six year old daughter Helena Beatrice on this very day. Thank you Helena.

We spent the day with activities such hearing a mass, dining at our favorite food chain, and watching the movie "8-legged animal."

Craving for More

Years ago, while I was still at DepEd-Manila, I discussed to my friends and classmates at PLM that once I get my position at DepEd-CO it would be enough and I wouldn't seek for any promotion. My friend and now my kumpadre told me, with total disagreement, that it wouldn't stop there and I would still look for more. True enough, after I got the position that I desired, I searched for more. In fact, I enrolled on various technical courses, plunged into different trainings/activities just to fill the missing information on my CVs. I wanted to learn more and to gain more experiences to satisfy my need for self-actualization. That was the reason why I tried to improve on my craft but no matter how hard I tried, somewhere along the way, stumbling blocks were there to frustrate me--but these challenges add to my enthusiasm to grow and to be better.

CFC-SOLD Sportsfest

Hi everyone. I am so happy to tell you that I participated in the 2009 CFC-SOLD Sportsfest held at the Department of Agrarian Reform (Gymnasium) at Quezon City. Guess what? Our tandem, I and Bro. Melvin, captured the badminton team championship award. I also joined the table tennis - singles category but I lost to a better man on the very first round. I was expecting a chess tournament (which is my forte) but it did not push through.

A brief salo-salo ensued after the table tennis event and a simple awarding ceremony was conducted after the event.

Congratulations to the winners and see you next year.

Oath Taking Ceremony at Cuneta Astrodome

I attended the oath taking ceremony for teachers at Cuneta Astrodome this morning. I felt very happy to meet former colleagues and friends. The top places were dominated by University of the Philippines students both in elementary and secondary levels as usual.

I had the chance to meet the former Undersecretary of the Department of Education and now Commissioner of Philippine Regulation Commission Dr. Nilo L. Rosas.

An abrupt brown-out halted the exciting ceremony.

Here are the pictures on the said event.

Last Month's Activities

Last month, I was able to finish reading two books--"DepEd Personnel Handbook" and "Handbook for General Orientation - Okinawa International Centre."

Watched three movies--Apocalypto, Babel, and Slumdog Millionaire.

Most of the time were spent on Photoshop review and playing chess online. My chess rating tremendously improved and had broken 2100 barrier.

Saturated by the news...

I got hold of the copy of the news regarding textbook errors on today's issue of a certain newspaper. They came up with long nasty articles which, to my opinion, were old issues. These archaic stories which they (self-proclaimed sicked-book crusader and other wannabes) presented were sensationalized to gather more sales (perhaps). If you guys are really sincere in trying to help, then why don't you just give your findings to the Department of Education, discuss the matter and find solutions. According to my favorite textbook evaluator, Mam Bambi, "If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem," that's what I see in these bunch of pretenders. I remember one time seeing an article from this same newspaper written by a Ph.d and mind you...it was about English. I spotted two glaring errors and reported the same to the writer (his email address was written under his article) but got no feedback. If you are really clean then cast the first stone, if not then shut up! Why don't you sanitize your own backyard first!

I always see these issues(textbook errors) before the opening of classes but these smegmas never dared to give productive recommendations.

My observations:

1) This crusader is so militant and has wanton disregard on the proper way of coursing a correspondence. Instead of discussing it to media why not discuss it first to the people involved.

2) Years ago he (crusader) told that he'd give his findings to the DepEd but none was received so far. Pure bluff.

3) I was able to see some of his findings on his latest revelation but he just patched one sentence to another to make it an error.

4) Check his findings and compare it with the textbook and you will see the truth.

5) Some of the findings were valid too but most were malicious and taken out of context.

What's Next?

After hurdling the Licensure Examination for Teachers what's next? Well, I'd like to go to Japan and if God allows, a stint in universities of Australia or The Netherlands. To realize my dream I have to take the IELTS first. So, my next step would be to study English language well.

I would like to plunge on relearning photo/video imaging. I feel that I really have a knack on this endeavor.

What else? Uhm... perhaps, join local chess tournaments and follow my childhood dream of becoming a chess master.

My First Experience at Palarong Pambansa

I became a member of the Information, Communication and Documentation Committee, TFSS of the Palarong Pambansa 2009 held at Tacloban City, Leyte Philippines. I have wonderful experiences worthy to be shared. The first two days were kinda excruciating due to scorching heat! I hardly sleep due to persistent mosquito bites that kept on pestering the participants every now and then.

The technical staff to whom I am with were very energetic and interesting.

Does Love Need a Reason?

Once a lady while having a conversation with her lover, asked:

Lady : Why do you like me..? Why do you love me?
Man : I can t tell the reason.. but I really like you..

Lady : You can t even tell me the reason... how can you say you like me? How can you say you love me?
Man : I really don t know the reason, but I can prove that I love U.

Lady : Proof? No! I want you to tell me the reason. My friend's boyfriend can tell her why he loves her but not you!
Man : Ok..ok!!! Erm... because you are beautiful,

because your voice is sweet,
because you are caring,
because you are loving,
because you are thoughtful,
because of your smile,
because of your every movements

The lady felt very satisfied with the man s answer.

Unfortunately, a few days later, the Lady met with an accident and went in comma.
The Guy then placed a letter by her side, and here is the content:

Darling,

Because of your sweet voice that I love you...
Now can you talk? No! Therefore I cannot love you.
Because of your care and concern that I like you..
Now that you cannot show them, therefore I cannot love you.
Because of your smile,
because of your every movements that I love you..
Now can you smile? Now can you move?
No, therefore I cannot love you...

If love needs a reason, like now,
There is no reason for me to love you anymore.

Does love need a reason? NO!
Therefore, I still love you...

The Examination Day!

(leaving my kids before the examination)

(preparing for the final day)

Its been a while since I typed entries of my struggle for the Licensure Examination for Teachers. Whew... it's finally over.

I just arrived from the testing room at CEU-Dentistry Room 210 and immediately entered my experiences before and after the examination.

First, on the penultimate day, I didn't read books and I just accompanied my wife and my two kids at SM Manila to unwind and to relax. We visited movie houses but never dared to enter due to one-time viewing policy, perhaps, you could imagine how much the tickets cost? So we decided to take some stroll and there I saw World of Fun where I can let my children play and at the same time, my chance to visit some nearby stores (hehehe). While they were having fun I was able to find this big chessboard at the 5th Floor then I watched for a while until I was joined by my kids while my wife visited her classmates who were at the ground floor. I spent the whole afternoon there watching until I was given the chance to play and I scored 3-0 against different opponents (I felt so relaxed).

Second, I had my haircut at my favorite barbershop to feel very clean.

Finally, I (with my family) billeted in a nearby motel to rest before the examination day.

FINAL DAY

I woke up at exactly 5:00 a.m. and after taking a bath and eating my breakfast I immediately rushed my way to the examination room which was about 500 meters away. Walking is also my way of exercising (for this day only).

I arrived at the examination room at about 6:00 a.m. and was greeted by long lines and closed gates at CEU.

Disappointments:

As I told you earlier, I was assigned at Room 210 of CEU-Dentistry I wasn't able to concentrate much due to minor bickerings of the proctor and the floor supervisor (possibly from PRC) they were discussing things (examination related) but it was too loud. Could they just talk silently so that our lines of thought would not be disturbed? Another boo-boo was the seating arrangement, I was seated comfortably in front (which they arranged earlier) then I was told to transfer again (ouch!). Next, the closing of the door was just to disgusting... it was so loud, etc. Lastly, do they (staff) have to enter the room with loud footsteps just to state some points?

Examination Proper:

General Education - 200 items

I felt that this subject tackled things like that of the Civil Service Professional Examination that I passed years ago wherein all core subjects were given. I think I scored more than 50% of the test.

Professional Education - 200 items

Hmmnnn...I could fairly say that I scored more than 50% of the test.

Business Technology - 150 items

Whew... I reviewed deeper concepts on this subject area but they gave us basic concepts which I didn't tackle comprehensively on my self-review. I can honestly say, though, that I scored more than 50% of the test. Most of the items came from management, basic computer (but the problem was they gave the short cut keys which I rarely used) and entrepreneurial concepts. I'm not really confident of my answers here because the distracters are very effective and plausible. What caught my attention was the question on paper clip where it was given twice. Equally important was the question #106 which I really couldn't find the answer on this. If you guys could share your time with me please do so. It was about mark-up but only 25% was given. I think it lacks some details (urgh...)

Fearless Forecast:

My problem was I have online materials which was shared from the internet and hard copies coming from previous examinations but they have different answers (eww...) so I couldn't really make a forecast as to how I fared on this examination so I am leaving it all to my God whom I know will graciously help me on my quest to be a better person.

Reality:

I just saw (4/15/09) a reviewer at the National Book Store containing Business Technology subject and I was struck to see that most of the items given in the board examination were taken in the 2001 board examination. I did not study that section. Huhuhu. I wish that God will help me on my struggle.
